PRODUCT SOURCING / SEASONAL & GIFTS

Seasonal & gifts sourcing from China

Build the collection around the date it has to sell. Holiday decorations, party ranges and packaged gifts need clear SKU quantities, early artwork decisions and a realistic plan for inspection and transport. A coordinated design is valuable only if the right versions arrive together.

EXPLORE THE CATEGORY

More than a product list.

Product directions to discuss, with the details that distinguish one quotation from another. These are inquiry options; availability and minimum quantities are confirmed for the proposed version.

01

Christmas tree decorations

Hanging ornaments, decorative shapes and coordinated colour collections. Specify material, size, attachment and finish. Review breakage protection, loose decoration and how each design is identified when several versions share one carton.

02

Seasonal home accents

Tabletop decorations, wreath-style accents and small seasonal display pieces. Record dimensions, construction and intended indoor or outdoor use. Natural-looking finishes, glitter and painted surfaces need clear appearance references and packing requirements.

03

Paper party collections

Banners, paper decorations and coordinated party accessories. Define paper construction, print colours, dimensions and set counts. Items intended for food contact or children need that use identified before the sourcing scope is confirmed.

04

Gift bags & wrapping

Paper gift bags, tissue, tags and wrapping accessories. Specify finished dimensions, paper, handles and print. Check whether the bag will hold the actual gift, including its box, and review handle attachment on a sample.

05

Gift boxes & presentation sets

Folding cartons, rigid boxes, sleeves and fitted inserts. Start with approved product dimensions and opening direction. Confirm whether boxes travel flat or assembled and how their volume affects the consolidated shipment.

06

Corporate & promotional gifts

Everyday accessories selected for a campaign, event or staff programme. Define the recipient, use, budget scope and distribution format. The logo area, packaging and event deadline should appear in the same brief.

07

Themed retail assortments

A coordinated selection across ornaments, wrapping and small gifts. Use a shared palette and separate quantities by SKU. Plan how changes to one item affect display consistency, carton identification and the completeness of the assortment.

08

Multi-item gift kits

Several components assembled into one presentation. Define the bill of materials, insert layout and exact set count. Record whether cards, ribbons, labels and assembly are included rather than treating them as minor extras.

SpecificationWhat to defineWhat to clarify with the supplier
Season & deadlineRequired arrival, selling date and final artwork decision date.A production completion date does not include inspection, rework, transport or destination handling.
SKU & assortmentDesign code, size, colour, quantity and set composition.Quote each version explicitly; a total quantity can conceal an unworkable split.
Materials & finishConstruction, coating, decoration, hanging loop and attachment.Review shedding, fragility and acceptable appearance variation on the physical sample.
Print & artworkDieline, language version, logo, print colours and approval reference.Use one approved revision for each product and pack to avoid mixed artwork in production.
Presentation & protectionIndividual pack, insert, set layout and master-carton arrangement.A display-ready pack still needs protection through storage and international transport.
Special useChildren’s use, food contact, electrical components or other claims.Flag these items early so the correct specialist review can be scoped.

BRANDING & PRESENTATION

Choose the version that fits your buyer.

01

An existing design with your brand

Consider an existing product with a branded tag, sleeve or box for an initial range. Confirm the product availability and the separate printing minimum. Approve both the gift and the brand presentation before ordering.

02

A coordinated seasonal collection

Create a palette, design family and SKU plan before requesting quotations. Limit unplanned variants and review a sample board or complete set. Keep substitutions subject to approval so a missing item does not quietly change the range.

03

A fully assembled gift kit

Prepare a component list with the quantity of each item per set. Approve the fit, packing order and finished appearance. Confirm who supplies each component and how shortages, damaged items and leftover packaging will be reconciled.

SAMPLE & PRE-SHIPMENT REVIEW

Check what matters for this category.

Use the agreed sample, specification and packing reference together. The final checklist and any specialist work are confirmed for the product and destination.

Product checks

SCOPE & EVIDENCE

Agree the checks before production.

Agree a release decision before the deadline becomes urgent. If a sample, inspection or component fails, the plan should identify who can approve rework, replacement, partial shipment or cancellation of that item. Do not let an approaching event turn an unresolved defect into an automatic approval.

Keep observations, corrective actions and the authorised release decision connected to the same product and order reference.

BUILD A SEASONAL COLLECTION

A holiday assortment with several suppliers

Build a coordinated seasonal collection of ornaments, gift bags and ribbon. Set quantities and colour references for each SKU and identify the components needed to sell complete sets. Confirm artwork and sample approvals, supplier-ready dates and a shared receiving cut-off. Agree which lines can sell independently if a component is delayed, and use consistent labels and carton marks for straightforward warehouse allocation.

CATEGORY QUESTIONS

Before you request a quotation.

Start by sharing the required arrival and selling dates. The schedule is then built around product selection, samples, artwork, production, checks and transport. There is no single lead time for all seasonal goods, especially when several suppliers or custom packs are involved.

Yes, a range can contain multiple designs, but quantities and minimums must be checked by design, colour and packaging version. Provide a SKU list and identify which products are essential to the collection so substitutions and delays can be assessed.

Assembly and packaging can be discussed as a defined project task. Approve the complete component list, final dimensions, insert, packing sequence and set appearance. Supplier availability, assembly cost and how defects or shortages are handled need confirmation.

Provide the final approved wording and a version map showing which SKU and destination uses each artwork file. Separate print minimums may apply. Use distinct revision names and approval records to reduce the risk of mixing versions.

Agree the decision path in advance: wait, split the shipment, omit the item or approve a suitable alternative. Each option can affect assortment completeness, freight and arrival timing. A supplier’s revised production date alone does not resolve those trade-offs.

State the intended user, use and any electrical or food-contact elements in the first brief. Decorative appearance does not determine the applicable requirements. Product-specific review and any testing should be confirmed before production or packaging claims are approved.
